Fifteen quiet minutes of deduction, then the story moves on.
No word lists, no trivia. You break a cipher the way analysts do, and the plot is your reward.
One chapter per day
Every puzzle is an intercepted transmission. Decode it and the day's dossier entry unlocks, and it tends to end right where things get interesting.
A real substitution cipher
Each letter of the alphabet has been swapped for another. You crack it through frequencies, short words and patterns. No crossword knowledge required.
SIGNAL instead of strikes
There is no fail state. Wrong assignments cost signal strength rather than locking you out, so every puzzle stays solvable to the very end. Finishing clean is the real flex.
Sharing without spoilers
The share grid shows how your solve went, never the plaintext and never the story. Your streak climbs through clearance levels the longer you stay on the case.
Offline and private
INTERCEPT has no servers and works entirely offline. There are no ads and no tracking, and your progress never leaves your iPhone.
Playable with VoiceOver
The whole puzzle can be solved by ear: cells, keyboard and results are all announced. Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion are respected throughout.
One optional purchase, no subscription.
The daily chapter is free forever — and so are three practice rounds a day; there is no paywall in front of the game. If you want to dig deeper, the Field Kit is a single one-time purchase.
Non-consumable · Family Sharing supported
- Archive replay: catch up on chapters you missed (they do not count toward your streak)
- Unlimited practice mode — beyond the three free rounds a day
- Extended statistics for your solves and streaks
- Season themes for the board
Nothing leaves your iPhone.
INTERCEPT sends nothing to servers of ours, because there are none. Your progress is stored locally on the device, and the app keeps working in airplane mode.
Questions people ask before day one.
When does a new chapter appear?
At midnight, local time. The season's content ships inside the app, so the next chapter unlocks even without an internet connection.
Do I need to know anything about cryptography?
No. The cipher is a classic letter substitution, and the early chapters teach you how to read frequencies and patterns. If you enjoy Wordle or sudoku, you have everything you need.
Can I lose a puzzle?
No. Instead of a limited number of attempts there is the SIGNAL economy: mistakes cost signal strength, but a puzzle can never become unsolvable. A clean solve is the badge of honour.
Can I play more than one puzzle a day?
Yes. Besides the daily chapter there is a practice mode with generated cryptograms in three difficulty levels. Three rounds a day are free, and the Field Kit removes the limit.
What happens when I miss a day?
The story simply continues the next day. With the Field Kit you can replay missed chapters from the archive, although those catch-up solves do not count toward your streak.
What happens after launch?
INTERCEPT is built for the long run. The story is told in seasons and actively continued, and new chapters and features arrive as free updates.
Is there a subscription?
No. The daily puzzle is free, and the optional Field Kit is a one-time purchase. There are no ads either way.
Which languages does INTERCEPT speak?
English and German. The puzzles are written natively in each language rather than translated, because letter frequencies and word lengths differ, and a translated cryptogram would simply be broken.
