A case you solve
by typing.

EXIT NODE is a hand-written noir mystery that plays out entirely inside a fictional terminal. You take a job, type your way through unfamiliar systems, and work out what really happened.

No swiping through menus, no multiple choice. You enter commands, read what comes back, and draw your own conclusions. Everything runs on your iPhone, offline, with nobody looking over your shoulder.

How it plays

You investigate the way the films make it look.

Every case hands you a few threads and a terminal. You scan what is reachable, get yourself access, read files, and crack whatever is locked. The path is never fixed, and the answer sits in what people left behind.

scan connect ls cat decrypt crack
01 / CASES

Hand-written stories

Every case is built by hand, not stitched together from parts. The clues make sense, the characters have motives, and by the end it all fits.

02 / COMMANDS

Fifteen verbs that stick

You work with a small, clear set of commands. Tap them or type them, whichever you prefer. After the first case the language is second nature.

03 / CHOICES

Choices that cost something

At the turning points the decision is yours, and it is rarely the comfortable one. What you do stays part of your story.

04 / FAIR

No dead ends

You cannot get stuck and you cannot break anything beyond repair. If you are lost, the game offers a fair nudge instead of making you start over.

05 / ATMOSPHERE

Phosphor, scanlines, sound

The terminal glows, the lines type themselves in, and every keystroke has its own sound. All of it comes from code, not a single image asset.

06 / OFFLINE

Runs in airplane mode

EXIT NODE needs no network and no account. The cases live inside the app, and your progress stays on the device.

The paid case

Start free, then case by case.

Getting in costs nothing: you play the whole prologue and see whether the work suits you. After that you buy cases one at a time — only the ones you actually want to play. The series grows over time, and there is never a subscription.

Pay per case · no subscription · Family Sharing supported

  • The full prologue is free to play
  • Each case is its own one-time purchase — you pay only for what you play
  • Bought once, unlocked for good
  • No ads, whether you buy or not

Nothing leaves your iPhone.

EXIT NODE has no server of its own for anything to go to. Your progress lives on the device alone; the only connections outward are to Apple — for buying a case and, if you like, for Game Center achievements.

FAQ

What people ask before the first case.

Is this a real hacking tool?

No, not at all. EXIT NODE is pure fiction. The terminal, the systems, and the commands are invented for the story. None of it touches real networks or devices, and there is nothing you could do any harm with.

Do I need to know my way around computers?

No. You type short words like "scan" or "cat", and the game eases you in. Type the commands yourself if you like, or pick them from the bar. Either way gets you there.

Can I get stuck?

No. There are no dead ends and no game over. If you cannot see the next step, the game gives you a fair hint so the investigation keeps moving.

What does EXIT NODE cost?

The prologue is free. Each further case is its own one-time purchase — no subscription, no ads, and whatever you buy stays unlocked for good. The series grows case by case; once there are several, they'll also be available together at a discount.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only once, for the App Store purchase. Play is entirely offline; the cases ship inside the app, and your progress stays on the iPhone.

Which languages does the game speak?

English and German. Both versions are written in full rather than machine-translated.
